Dean joined Sedgwick in 2024 as an aviation hull surveyor. Prior to his involvement with insurance and claims management, Dean was employed as a licensed aircraft engineer at a large leisure airline. He completed a three-year apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance specializing in airframes, engines and electrics in 2010. After gaining a wealth of base and line experience on a range of commercial narrow and wide-body aircraft, Dean obtained a UK Civil Aviation Authority Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence, with categories B1 (airframe), B2 (avionics) and C (base maintenance certifier) endorsed with multiple large transport aircraft types. During his 16 years as an aircraft engineer, Dean held several positions including management and supervisory roles, within one of which he led a team of engineers. Dean has managed and led many projects including aircraft on ground (AOG) recoveries, aircraft delivery technical acceptance from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), aircraft redeliveries, structural repairs and installation of large modifications. He is a qualified instructor for aircraft practical training, on-the-job training (OJT) assessment, and engine ground run simulator instruction.
