Nigel currently acts as Sedgwick’s head of major and complex loss in Asia. He began his loss adjusting career in 2004 with an international adjusting practice in New Zealand as the engineering team leader handling property damage, machinery breakdown, alternative energy, mining, marine, contractors’ all risks, erection all risks, liability and catastrophe claims. During this time, he completed professional insurance qualifications and gained chartered status. In 2011, Nigel relocated to Singapore to take on the role of operational director for a specialty adjusting company focused on high-value complex claims associated with energy, natural resources and onshore/offshore engineering claims. He then transferred to the Middle East to set up and operate a new adjusting practice in Abu Dhabi. During this time, Nigel continued to undertake natural resource assignments as well as develop a portfolio of onshore engineering, property and casualty assignments (including associated claims for delayed start up and advance loss of profit). He then relocated back to Singapore to take on the role of regional executive adjuster where he handled a portfolio of high-value complex petrochemical losses throughout the Asia region. Prior to his loss adjusting career, Nigel had a background in mechanical engineering. He worked for British Steel in the UK where he gained extensive experience in the maintenance and operation of bulk ore transportation and processing systems associated with large scale industrial steel making. Nigel also worked for the American Bureau of Shipping where he was responsible for industrial verification and certification of machinery and equipment used in the oil industry, in addition to working as an onshore support engineer for a state-owned offshore oil and gas company in the Middle East.
