Prior to joining Sedgwick, Riana qualified as a chartered accountant (SA) in 2014 and thereafter fulfilled various internal audit, financial management and group financial management roles at manufacturing and financial services companies in Cape Town. Since joining Sedgwick in 2019, Riana has been involved in several forensic accounting investigations on behalf of local insurers and has investigated several hundred claims on behalf of various South African and overseas insurers, including all types of financial claims (such as business interruption, stock, and fidelity guarantee, among others) across multiple industries. Riana has continuously provided support in these areas to the major and complex loss team in South Africa and the Middle East, and formed part of the financial team in South Africa that was responsible for adjusting business interruption claims across all sectors for several major catastrophes that have hit the country since 2020.
