After studying at the University of Insurance in Cologne in the 1980s, Alfred entered the industry with a focus on property and marine insurance. He worked with an American insurance company in Germany, then joined a loss adjusting company in Düsseldorf. Alfred started as a marine surveyor until the mid-90s when he took over responsibility of expanding the property department. He then transitioned into a focus on major and complex loss adjustment and acted as coordinator, partner and head of major and complex loss at two companies. During this time, loss adjustment and presenting major and complex losses to the market was one of his key roles. Alfred then joined Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance where he investigated the field of reinsurance and coinsurance business from the reinsurer’s perspective. He currently works with Sedgwick as an executive loss adjuster.
