A powerful cyclone hit southern Brazil, causing 11 inches of rain in less than 24 hours.

The significant rainfall, in addition to extreme winds, triggered floods and landslides, which affected 79 municipalities, caused two bridges to collapse and blocked dozens of highways.

Towns like Mucum were 85% under water at the height of the storm. The National Institute of Meteorology has warned citizens in the southern region of Brazil that more significant rainfall is expected.
